Shenandoah Valley Campground (GS) – Mt Jackson VA

RATING: ♦♦♦
  • Length of stay: 4 days
  • Cost per night: $42.00
  • Discount: Good Sam
  • Hook ups: 50 amp electric, water, and sewer. But hook ups were placed at the front of the site and were hard to reach.
  • Site number/quality: #B-17. Gravel and dirt pad. Fairly level. Grass seating area. Newer campground with no shade.
  • Park quality: Small campground next to interstate. Convenient, but there is nothing to buffer the loud traffic noise. Not far from the Thornton Gap entrance to Shenandoah National Park. The valley is quite pretty, with rolling hills and mountains on either side. Lots of farms and orchards.
  • Access: Directly off I-81.
  • Connectivity: Verizon strong, AT&T Strong with antenna, T-Mobile strong.
  • Return yes/no?: Yes, if passing through.
  • Notes: We took a nice drive along the northern section of the Skyline Drive, which runs for 105 miles through Shenandoah National Park. Also went to the 18th Annual Apple Harvest Celebration at Showalter’s Orchard in nearby Timberville .
