The Oaks at Point South (TT) – Yemassee SC

  • Length of stay: 12 days
  • Cost per night: $0.00
  • Discount: Thousand Trails
  • Hook ups: 50 amp electric, water, sewer, and cable TV.
  • Site number/quality: #8. Gravel pad. Fairly level. Pull-through.
  • Park quality: We have mixed feelings about this campground. It has most of the important features we look for in a campground: level, pull-through sites; full hookups with 50 amp; not too many rundown annuals; and easy access from the highway with a nice roadway from the highway to the park. But some of the sites are short and most are tight. There’s lots of trees, which makes the campground kind of gloomy and claustrophobic. However, compared to other Thousand Trails parks we been to so far, we’d rate it slightly above average.
  • Access: Directly off I-95.
  • Connectivity: Verizon weak, AT&T strong, T-Mobile strong.
  • Return yes/no?: Probably.
  • REPEAT STAY: See previous
  • Notes: This is a return visit for us. It’s very convenient, and fairly close to Charleston and Savannah, which gave us a chance to easily visit each city. The campground is also close to Beaufort and Hilton Head. Beaufort is a somewhat sleepy and still quaint port town with a long history. It has a lovely riverfront. We really enjoyed our time there. Hilton Head on the other hand is a bustling upscale modern resort town with a fantastic beach. Though home to many retirees, it isn’t someplace that we’d ever want to live. Far too crowded.
