Rainbows End RV Park (SKP) – Livingston TX

RATING: ♦♦♦
  • Length of stay: 8 days
  • Cost of per night: $21/night
  • Discount: Escapees RV Club
  • Hook ups: 50 amp electric, water, and sewer. No cable TV.
  • Site number/quality: #87. Gravel pad, fairly level. Grassy picnic area. Few trees.
  • Park Quality: This is an unusual park. Only a few of the sites are available for short-term camping. The park is the headquarters for the Escapees RV Club and is the location of their mail forwarding service. Rainbows End is one of seven Escapees owned Rainbow RV Parks located from Arizona to Florida. These parks offer a short and long-term campground section, deeded lots, and lease lots. As a result, the park is an amalgam of housing subdivision, mobile home park, and campground. Many full-timers “retire” to an Escapees park to live permanently when their traveling days are over. Members of Escapees also have access to  eleven SKP co-op parks, plus discounts at over 800 affiliated parks nationwide.
  • Access: Easy off TX-146, but not near any Interstates.
  • Connectivity: Verizon strong, AT&T strong,  but T-Mobile none.
  • Return yes/no?: Uncertain
  • Notes: Escapees was the first RV club that we joined. The first rally we attended was held by Escapees in Goshen IN in 2015. We highly recommend that those who are new to RV living, especially full-timers, attend an Escapee Rally. One simple but very important service that Escapees offers at their rallies as well as at their parks is Smart Weigh. They weigh each corner of an RV so the owners can get a precise measure of their rig’s weight, and can then determine whether they are overweight or out of balance. They also measure the rig’s height. Weight and height are crucial pieces of information that every RV owner should know in order to operate their rig safely. The main reason we included Livingston on our itinerary was to be weighed. We passed with flying colors.
