Desert Trails RV Park – El Centro CA

RATING: ♦♦♦
  • Dates: Feb 8, 2019 – Feb 10, 2019
  • Length of stay: 2 nights
  • Cost per night: $20
  • Discount: None
  • Hookups: None
  • Site number/quality: In addition to full hookup sites, this park offers dry camping in a large gravel lot.  There was only one other rig with us, a semi truck and trailer. The lot could have held several more.
  • Park Quality: This is a nice park that caters to golfing snowbirds. Their motto is “Where the Sun Spends the Winter.” The RV sites and park models surround a well maintained golf course and pond.
  • Access: The campground is next to I-8 at the 4th St exit in El Centro.
  • Connectivity: AT&T is OK. T-Mobile is weak.
  • Return yes/no?: Maybe.
  • UPDATE: We returned to Desert Trails after crossing the border at Mexicali, staying for two more nights, Mar 7, 2019 – Mar 9, 2019.
  • Notes: We needed someplace to stay for a couple of nights before we headed up to Potrero County Park to meet up with the Escapees caravan going to Mexico. Most other parks in the area are completely full. Fortunately, this park offered dry camping. Nothing fancy, but it fit the bill. We had full access to all the park’s amenities, and most importantly, we were able to use the dump and fill station as well as to fill up with reasonably priced bulk propane.
