Pete’s Camp – San Felipe BC, Mexico

RATING: ♦♦♦♦+
  • Dates: Mar 1, 2019 – Mar 6, 2019
  • Length of stay: 5 nights
  • Cost per night: $18
  • Discount: None
  • Hookups: None. But there was a dump station.
  • Site number/quality: #72 on the beach with a palapa.
  • Park Quality: This might be the most beautiful RV park we have ever stayed at. The sites are right on a wide sandy beach. Each site has a palapa. Rigs park either between palapas to face the water, or behind the palapa, parallel to the water. We parked behind ours because the space between was quite tight. Above the beach area is a first rate restaurant and bar that overlooks the camp and beach. Though we didn’t have hookups, the site was wonderful.
  • Access: The campground is just off Federal Hwy 5, about 8 miles north of the little town of San Felipe, Baja. Hwy 5 connects San Felipe with Mexicali on the border, and is a very good road.
  • Connectivity: There was no cell coverage down on the beach area, but up at the restaurant T-Mobile was good. There was also wi-fi available for customers.
  • Return yes/no?: Absolutely. This is definitely on our “must come back” list for Mexico. But we would stay much longer.
  • Notes: One thing that made this stay so special was that we were camped with a number of friends we had made on the Mexican Connection Rally in Ensenada, including Bob and Cathy and Lynn and Terri, who were parked on either side of us. Lynn and Terri also were our traveling companions from Tecate to Ensenada, from Ensenada to San Felipe, and from San Felipe to Mexicali. We couldn’t have asked for better ones. And the weather was finally warm and sunny for the first time during our month-long stay in Baja!
