Red Rock Canyon State Park – Kern County CA

RATING: ♦♦♦♦

We stayed a couple nights in Mojave CA specifically so we could visit Red Rock Canyon State Park, which is about 20 miles north of Mojave. We had heard some good reports about it, and we were not disappointed.

We had assumed that the main attraction of the park would be the red rock cliffs that we had seen in pictures, but we were pleasantly surprised to find that the California super bloom we had been seeing elsewhere in the desert was on display at Red Rock Canyon as well. Wild flowers were everywhere.

It was a perfect day for some hiking and picture taking. The sky was clear and the temperature was a perfect 72°. The park has a nice campground, but it has a 30′ size limit. Otherwise, we would have loved to stay there. But spending the day was enough. We had a great time.
