Saguaro RV Park Co-Op (SKP) – Benson AZ

RATING: ♦♦♦♦
  • Length of stay: 7 days
  • Cost per night: $10/night plus electricity
  • Discount: Escapee 1st Time Visitor
  • Hook ups: 50 amp electric, sewer, water, and cable.
  • Site number/quality: #84. Very large, flat, gravel pad. Some sites have concrete pads instead of gravel. Many have casitas. Our site has a casita with porch at the rear of the site which provided a nice shaded seating area. However, the casitas are not open to renters because they contain the personal property of the lot owners.
  • Park Quality: This is perhaps the most spacious and well maintained RV park we’ve ever stayed at. It looks a bit like a typical suburban neighborhood. The park is one of eleven SKP Co-Op RV parks affiliated with the Escapees RV Club. Members can purchase a lifetime lease on a lot to live on seasonally or permanently. Chris and Cherie from Technomadia have recently purchased a lot here, and posted this explanation of the cost and process.
  • Access: The campground is directly off AZ-80 about 4 miles south of I-10 in the town of Benson AZ. Easy to find and get to.
  • Connectivity: Verizon Strong, AT&T Strong, and T-Mobile Strong.
  • Return yes/no?: Yes, if back in the area.
  • Notes: We liked the park, but the town of Benson is nothing to get too excited about. There is a Walmart and a Safeway, but that’s about it. However, it is only 50 minutes from Tucson and not far from the old west towns of Tombstone and Bisbee. We took a drive around Tucson to get a sense of the area. We also drove down to Bisbee, and really enjoyed it. We think that buying a lease at a SKP park might be in our future. But we doubt that we would like to live here full-time. We’re planning to check out some other SKP parks in the coming months.
